Burger King Twitter Account Hacked

By Geek Indo on Senin, 18 Februari 2013 | 13.55

Hackers took over Burger King's Twitter account on Monday.

The cyber tricksters changed the fast food company's avatar and name to "McDonalds" and sent a McFlurry of questionable and offensive tweets. The Twitter mishap isn't all bad news for Burger King though — the account added 5,000 new followers in the first 30 minutes since the hackers took over.

Mashable has reached out to the company and will update this post with any response.

UPDATE: As of 1:15 p.m. EST, it appears Twitter has suspended the @BurgerKing account.

UPDATE, 4:15 p.m. EST: Burger King shared a statement with Mashable regarding Monday's Twitter hacking:

It has come to our attention that the Twitter account of the BURGER KING® brand has been hacked. We have worked directly with administrators to suspend the account until we are able to re-establish our legitimate site and authentic postings. We apologize to our fans and followers who have been receiving erroneous tweets about other members of our industry and additional inappropriate topics.
